Katherine Heigl has opened up about how she was born into an environment that was a "white bubble" and how that realization has affected how she parents her adopted multiracial children. Katherine Heigl, the "Firefly Lane" as well as "Grey's Anatomy" star shared in an interview recently that she was told that when it came to skin color -- it didn't matter to her the way she looked, but after she spoke with her older sister whom she adoptive from South Korea, she realized how differently society viewed each of the two. "I asked my sister, Meg whether she'd been treated one way when she was out in public with our parents and in a different manner when she was out alone without them. She replied "Oh I do, each and every occasion!" Heigl said to Parents, "That made me realise that I had been so ignorant." The actress said that she was upset, but she felt that she had to channel her anger to help adopt her daughters. Heigl as well as her husband of 13 years -- singer Josh Kelley -- have a 4-year-old son together, Joshua Bishop Kelley, Jr. In 2009, the couple adopted Nancy Leigh (12), one of their daughters of South Korea, and Adalaide (8 the black child) in 2012.
